What Attracted Me to the Coaching Profession?
When working at the Housing Authority, I met several creative and intelligent residents who were worn down by life—simply surviving, with little to no motivation or belief in themselves. My heart ached for them, and I wondered why these people were resistant to or even terrified of change. As I worked with them, I could see, deep down inside, they wanted something better for themselves and their children. I learned a powerful lesson about systemic oppression: 1) Not everyone who’s on Section 8 chose that path. 2) The blood, sweat, and tears it takes to get out of the system is not for the faint of heart. As one resident put it: “It can feel like being in a maze with no exit. Frustrating and exhausting to keep navigating.” 3) Some just felt too weighed down and judged to get out. 4) Loss of sense of self or no development of sense of self.
At the state hospital, I met admits who were former professionals and experts—doctors, teachers, engineers, psychologists—who once had it all. However, they lost themselves (and, in some cases their families) in the pursuit of prominence, prestige, and status. They no longer recognized who they were, but it didn’t start out that way. They worked with pride and integrity for their families and teams. The valuable lesson I learned is, although leadership is very rewarding: 1) Work-life balance is essential. 2) Regular, personal and professional revitalization is pertinent. 3) They need something individualized and intentionally for them. They need regular support, separate from traditional leadership trainings and team-buildings to keep them present, self-aware and grounded.
As the Director of Social Service in nursing homes, I met others who had never paused long enough to truly explore themselves or their lives—only to realize, too late, what they’ve missed out on. The lesson I learned here is life is short. The time it takes to fully embrace life and who you are meant to become has an expiration date. You don’t have forever to figure out who or what you might become. Intentionality about your decisions, preferences, and relationships is crucial throughout life.
Different professional environments, yet a similar void among the well-to-do and poor: people losing themselves in the throes of life and struggling to find their way back home to self while at the same time, dealing with the trapped emotions tied to those life experiences. Amidst pressure, some had lost their core values, some never had core values and some were running away from their core values. We can also replace the boldened words with self-respect, self-love, hope, etc.
Generative Coaching leaves no stone unturned. It asks the hard questions and unveils the answers people hide behind. It challenges you. It breathes life into you. It raises awareness about limited beliefs systems. It doesn’t pathologize or label you. It refers to therapy services (if the need arises). It advocates. It moves you to action. It’s person-centered. And, in my case, its trauma informed.

I’ve gone through an ICF Coaching Accredited School to gain my coaching education. I hold a master’s degree in social work and have studied and researched extensively the ebbs and flows of the psychology behind human behavior. I have several years of experience of moving people (young and old) from dark places in life— to thriving. Therefore, I have the ability to delve deeply with people into the patterns that forms who they no longer align with and to help them to shift those patterns to where they want to be. I’m dedicated to doing more for you than listening. I will challenge you to break through barriers that you thought were impossible to accomplish on your own. I want you to feel powerful as you embrace the new you! -
We are a team! A partnership! I’m a lone Coach Practitioner and Social Worker. People and their concerns get lost in the shuffle and large entities tend to lose the personal touch. You will never be treated like a number or a burden with me. I’m here for you and believe in the power of YOU! I care about why you are feeling stuck and unproductive and aim to walk with you through the process until you feel alive and moving again. -
If you are of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing Community, I warmly WELCOME YOU! I’m a fluent American Sign Language communicator. I’ve been part of the Deaf Community since 2008. My husband and I know your language and take advantage of any opportunity to pour into you. We have gained a healthy understanding of the power of Deaf culture. However, we recognize as hearing members of society we are limited in our deep understanding of how you are treated and how you navigate life. Here, we honor you and your experiences and will continue to serve as vessels that are instrumental in building you up from the inside out. I couldn’t have a coaching business that transforms people’s lives without including each offering as a services for you. Email me directly with words or send an ASL Zoom recording to my email. -
To my organizations, entrepreneurs, leaders, emerging leaders and teams, I am passionate about helping each of you to embody the height, depth, breadth, and width of your company’s mission, goals and values to get everyone on the same page. However, I’m even more interested in your personal growth journey! Are you feeling stifled in your growth (mentally, emotionally, professionally)? Can you identify what is working and what isn’t? Are you overwhelmed, exhausted and need reprieve? How’s the communication flow amongst the team? Could your team use a shift from tension to transformation? Whether team coaching or professional coaching, my goal is for you to be balanced while helping you to develop a healthy, communicative and productive team.
